Celebrating Our Independent Business of the Year Win at the Bridport Business Awards

Last Thursday afternoon, we had the absolute honour of being named Independent Business of the Year 2026 at the Bridport Business Awards. It's a recognition that truly means the world to us, and we wanted to share this moment with you.

The Bridport Business Awards, organised by Marketing West, celebrate businesses that have made significant contributions to the local economy and community. To be recognised alongside so many incredible local businesses was a privilege in itself, but to actually win this award has left us feeling both humbled and incredibly grateful.

What made the evening even more special was sharing this award with Mercato Italiano. They're not just a brilliant restaurant but also long-time supporters of Baboo Gelato who stock our gelato on their menu. Being joint winners with a business we admire and work with really highlighted what makes the Bridport business community so special.

This award belongs to everyone who has supported us on this journey, but we'd especially like to dedicate it to Jane (left). She's truly the main reason we won this award. Jane has been working tirelessly at our West Bay kiosk to make it thrive, and we're absolutely delighted that she'll now be managing our two Lyme Regis kiosks as well. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to delivering the best possible experience for our customers embodies everything Baboo Gelato stands for.

To our wonderful team who handcraft every batch of gelato with such care, to Annie and Sam who founded Baboo on the principle of never compromising on quality, to our loyal customers who have made us part of their special moments and everyday treats, and to the local suppliers who provide us with the finest ingredients – this recognition reflects your belief in us, and we're deeply thankful.

The entrepreneurial spirit in Bridport and across Dorset never ceases to inspire us. Events like the Bridport Business Awards remind us how fortunate we are to be part of such a vibrant, supportive business community where quality, craftsmanship, and genuine connections are valued.
