Sunday Salutes – Free Ice Cream for Key Workers
This autumn and winter, Baboo Gelato is celebrating the incredible people who keep our communities safe, supported, and thriving.
From Sunday 5th October 2025, through to the 14th December 2025, our new campaign Sunday Salutes will give away free ice cream to a different group of key workers each week.

Oct 5 – Firefighters, RNLI & Coastguard
A thank-you to the teams who keep us safe on land and sea. From tackling house fires to rescuing stranded walkers and swimmers, they’re always ready.
Oct 12 – Carers & Social Workers
Recognising both paid and unpaid carers, care home staff, home carers, and social workers who support vulnerable children, families, and the elderly every single day.
Oct 19 – Farmers & Agricultural Workers
The people who put food on our tables, care for animals, and maintain the countryside. With harvest just in, it’s the perfect time to say thank you.
Oct 26 – Council & Waste Collection Teams
From bin crews and recycling collectors to street cleaners and highways teams, these unsung heroes keep our towns and villages running smoothly.
Nov 9 – Armed Forces & Veterans (Remembrance Sunday)
Honouring those serving in the Army, Navy, and RAF, as well as veterans who have served before them.
Nov 16 – Public Transport Workers
Bus drivers, train staff, and taxi drivers who get us where we need to go — often working unsociable hours and in all weathers.
Nov 23 – Postal Workers & Delivery Drivers
From posties to couriers, these are the people braving the elements to bring our letters, parcels, and online orders direct to our doors.
Dec 7 – NHS & Healthcare Workers
Doctors, nurses, paramedics, midwives, admin teams, porters — the full NHS family. A Christmas thank-you to those who care for us when we need it most.
Dec 14 – Teachers, Teaching Assistants & School Staff
Closing the campaign by celebrating those who guide, support, and inspire our children every day. A festive thank-you as you head into the Christmas holidays.
If you’re one of these groups, simply pop in on your Sunday, show us an ID card, uniform, or proof of role, and enjoy a free ice cream — on us.

Recognising those who keep our communities safe and support us day and night — from local officers to community safety partners.
Jan 18 – Volunteers & Community Champions
From charity shop helpers and event organisers to food bank teams and fundraisers — a thank-you to those who freely give their time to make a difference.
Jan 25 – Early Years Educators
Celebrating nursery staff, preschool teachers, and childminders who nurture curiosity, care, and confidence in our youngest learners.
Feb 1 – Guide Dogs & Assistance Dog Trainers (DDYY)
A salute to the incredible dogs and their dedicated trainers who change lives through independence, mobility, and companionship.
Feb 8 – Emergency Service Call Handlers (999 & 111)
The calm, caring voices who answer emergency and urgent calls — the unseen first responders who make sure help gets where it’s needed.
Feb 15 – Vets & Veterinary Nurses
Honouring those who care for the pets, farm animals, and wildlife that mean so much to us — with compassion, skill, and dedication.
Feb 22 – Youth Workers & Mentors
Recognising those who support, guide, and empower young people — helping them find confidence, connection, and purpose.
Mar 1 – Local Heroes Celebration Week
