For years now, you might have spotted one of our little Baboo freezer vans trundling down a Dorset lane, on its way to somebody's doorstep with a tub or two of gelato. We've loved doing it. So it's only right that we're honest with you about a change.
We've decided to stop offering local home delivery from our Baboo vans.
The honest reason
We could dress this up, but we'd rather not. The plain truth is that sending vans out across the busy lanes of Dorset, Somerset and Devon to deliver small quantities of gelato never really added up — not economically, and, the part that troubled us more, not environmentally. A van covering all those miles to drop off a few hundred millilitres of gelato is a hard thing to square with the way we try to make everything else: carefully, in small batches, with as little waste as we can manage.
So we've made the call. We know it'll disappoint some of you, and for that we're genuinely sorry.
The good news
In place of the vans, we're offering a select range of our 500ml tubs for nationwide shipping. There's an upside here that the vans could never offer: your gelato now travels packed in dry ice, which means you no longer need to be home to receive it (as long as you're back by the evening). And before you ask — yes, all our dry ice comes from plant-based, renewable CO₂ sources.
If you're near us, you can also Click & Collect from our HQ in Rampisham. Order any quantity you like, with no minimum, and pick it up free when it suits you.
And our favourite part
Here's the thing we'd most like you to take away from all this: Baboo has never been in more shops. Farm shops, delis, food halls and wonderful independents right across the country now stock us — and quite often, the freshest and easiest way to get your fix is simply down the road.
These are the people who champion us, and we'd love you to champion them. So if you've lost your van delivery, our gentle nudge is this: go and find us in a shop near you. There's a good chance a proper supply of Baboo is closer than you think.

As we mark ten years of Baboo, we're more grateful than ever to everyone who's flagged down a van, waited for the freezer box, and welcomed us to their door. That chapter's closing, but the gelato isn't going anywhere — there are just easier, kinder ways to get it now.
