At Baboo Gelato, we're passionate about crafting extraordinary gelato — and the experts seem to agree.
Back in 2020, our Lab team were dancing their socks off after our Salted Caramel gelato was crowned Champion Ice Cream & Sorbet in the prestigious Taste of the West Awards. That same year, the Hairy Bikers chose our Elderflower Sorbet as the Best British Specialty Product in the Great British Food Awards.
Since then, the accolades have kept rolling in — from the Guild of Fine Food, Dorset Food & Farming Awards, and Love Local, Trust Local, to being named Best Local Food/Drink Producer by Muddy Stilettos in 2022.
By 2023, we had added five more Taste of the West awards, and every single one of our 125ml tubs had earned recognition. Quite the collection!
Great Taste Awards 2024 & 2025: Our Sweetest Wins Yet
In 2024, we were over the moon when our Double Chocolate Gelato earned a 3-star Great Taste Award — one of the highest honours in the food world. But in 2025, things got even better.
This year, we’ve added two more 3-star awards for our:
Mint Choc Chip Gelato
Crystallised Ginger Gelato
To put that in perspective: only 1.8% of the 14,000+ products blind-tasted by the Guild of Fine Food earn 3 stars — the same odds as getting into NASA’s astronaut programme!
We also scooped up:
2 stars for our Chocolate Orange Gelato
1 star for our Rum & Raisin Gelato
That brings our Great Taste Award star total to 53 stars and counting.

Our Mint choc chip gelato was described as:
"Creamy white and glossy with sizeable chunks of melt-in-the-mouth Belgian chocolate which positively floods the palate. The peppermint oil is well stated, with the authentic flavour profile providing cooling freshness in contrast to the creamy richness of the gelato. Silky smooth and super indulgent; the judges felt this is the best ever mint chocolate chip gelato with true persistence of flavour. Delicious!”
